If everyone is a sinner, then in my opinion this is most especially evidence of a surfeit of rules.
We all know that many people put in many trying circumstances would do many things while wishing after the fact that circumstances had not led there. We can embrace this as a part of our nature which we are charged with transcending at the individual level, while striving to maintain some modicum of balance at higher levels, but in my opinion there are better ways to achieve humility than to start with “you are all scum.”
I would rather acknowledgement of the grand mass of achievements through history and society of humanity and understanding of how much we owe to that as a means to achieve humility.
Improvable grain of sand, not stanky speck of mould.
